“In the morning when I rise
In the morning when I rise In the morning when I rise Give me Jesus” I was introduced to this song at Camp Caroline last summer. We sang it each day at Morning Watch, a time for devotion and silent reflection. It was easy to pray our way into another day, overlooking the lake in North Carolina, seeing dolphins sometimes. Yet, I confess that I do not often wake with my mind, “Stayed on Jesus.” I get up when the girl does, after a good night’s sleep or restless one. I reach for coffee I hope I prepared the night before. I try to coax my daughter into eating something besides chocolate. And so the day begins, but I do not always ask for Jesus. However, on this Holy Saturday, I am singing this song. Grateful for the sunshine, the energy to get up and go, knowing that tomorrow, He is Risen! This Lenten writing journey has been a grand experience, even when my discipline to share something everyday was unsuccessful. But I did not fail. There is no failure when dark of night is transformed into the Light of day. And when morning comes, I can sing . . . Thankful to be #ShapedByGod
